Into the Northwest Passage

The Rossmoor Travel Club is offering something entirely new in partnership with Adventure Canada, an ecotour company, the club is sponsoring a 17-day expedition sailing from the west coast of Greenland across the North Atlantic and into the Canadian Arctic.

This legendary route, long sought by explorers, would have provided an alternate route to the Far East, but it was ice-locked and unnavigable until climate change made the crossing possible in 2016.

Aboard the Ocean Explorer – a steel-reinforced ship, 199 passengers will enjoy all the amenities of a cruise ship while exploring ice fjords, seeing icebergs calve, and witnessing wildlife from polar bears and walruses to whales and arctic birds. They will also meet the Inuit, Canada’s indigenous people, to learn about their art, culture, and games.
